L’éventail de Jeanne (Jeanne’s Fan) is a children’s ballet produced in 1927. Jeanne Dubost, a notable patron of the arts in early 20th-century Paris, commissioned 10 composers to each write a short dance piece for her young pupils. Valse was Ibert’s contribution; many other notable composers also provided music for the project including Maurice Ravel, Darius Milhaud, and Francis Poulenc. The dance Poulenc wrote, Pastourelle FP 45, is also part of the Piano Files catalog.
